It's time to celebrate...SPRING!
My laptop desktop has officially been updated with a picture of lilies (my favorite flower). Each time I walk out my front door, I eagerly peak at my flowerbed. Last year's lilies are well on their way to returning. Seems like they are growing a half inch each day. I can't say much for our front lawn. Last year we decided to completely tear out our front yard and start from scratch. Looks like it was a bust, as our front yard is now worse then it was before. Perfect. We are currently in the process of getting some bids from some professionals, hopefully they can do something! But I fear we will continue to waste money if we try it ourselves because whatever we are doing...isn't working. I'm so looking forward to getting some more flowers planted. As much as I love to get my hands in the dirt, I fear I will only be allowed to supervise this year. As my belly gets larger, my back hurts more, and my center of gravity....ya, forget it. So hopefully with some help from the hubby, we will be able to rehabilitate my flower garden.
It's odd, growing up, I always watched my mom tend to her flowers. She has a gorgeous flower garden and lawn. I'm starting to think she was blessed with a bit of a green thumb. But all the years I watched her tend her flowers, I never thought I would become interested in...gardening. But now, I get it. There is something so relaxing about getting out in the beautiful weather and getting your hands in the dirt. Something so rewarding about watching your flowers grow and bloom into something so beautiful. Now I wish I would have spent more time with her while she was gardening so perhaps I wouldn't be so horrible at it.
Moving on, I cannot decide if the weeks are going by quickly or slowly. But one thing is for sure, they ARE going by. This week marks my 32nd week of pregnancy. 8 weeks left to go. The home stretch. There are some days, 8 weeks sounds and feels so long, but other times, when I put 8 weeks into perspective of the rest of my life, it is only a brief moment. Meanwhile, Ian and I have plenty to keep us busy. We have yet another doctors appointment tomorrow. We are suppose to be going every-other-week, but my semi-over-paranoid-and-neurotic-episode last week earned me a trip to the hospital for a non-stress test and he wanted to see me again this week just to follow up on that appointment. Naturally, since then, she seems to move around much more making me look even more like a crazy, anxious, first mom. Oh well, I am sure I am not the first, nor last first time mommy, that was a little anxious.
In addition to doctors appointments, Ian and I are enrolled in a 5 week child birthing class. We had our first class last week. I think the thing I like best about the class is that, I've had plenty of time to read books and research about labor and what to expect, but Ian works and is busy and doesn't necessarily have the time to sit down and read about labor. This class provides a time where we can both learn together what to expect. The instructor also gives many good tips for dads to remember to help us moms through labor. This week we basically discussed signs of labor and when your suppose to head to the hospital. Then we touched base on what your body and baby is actually doing during the different stages of labor. Overall, I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next few weeks. I also signed us up for a breastfeeding class later in April. That is one I am REALLY eager about. The instructor said, by taking the class, moms are 80% more likely to be successful at breastfeeding.
Well, I'm going to conclude today's blog update and go enjoy this beautiful weather. I bought a book yesterday that I've been itching to start. Its called A Penny Parcel by Avery E. Hitch (Christian Fiction). Yesterday at church, we had a guest family, Simple Grace, come and preform some music and one of the younger family members is a published Christian author.
Hope everyone gets an opportunity to get out and enjoy the weather! Until next time...
