Monday

Well hello Monday...back again so soon.

Haley is taking a nap.  Thank goodness, because she woke up in a nightmare of a mood.  Wonder where she gets that from...

I guess we will do the whole weekend recap.

Friday night, Haley and I went on an adventure to Peculiar, Mo to visit a girl friend and her fam.  It was a great break and change of pace for this momma--and I think Haley enjoyed being entertained and staying up past her bedtime (she definitely slept in the next day..which was awesome!)  The ride out took forever because people don't know how to drive in rush hour, but the ride back was so peaceful.  I realized that her house is literally only 35 minutes from my apartment, so there is really no excuse for me not to visit more often.

Saturday is usually errand day these day.  On our agenda this weekend was finding a new car seat for Haley.  She has outgrown her baby carrier.  For those of you that are also approaching the car seat swap time, we found a great deal at Buybuy Baby.  If you sign up for their email, you get sent a 20% off a single item coupon, which is helpful when your spending the kind of money required to buy a car seat.

Side note.  I feel like, anytime you do baby shopping, your going to end up leaving feel like a terrible mom.  There were car seats there for like $300-$400 bucks.  Umm.  Ya.  I definitely had no intentions of paying that much.  But I felt bad because a car seat isn't something you want to cheap out on (and that is why this is not, yet another post, about my Craigslist shopping--kinda felt I had to go new on something like this...)  I decided companies are playing off the mom guilt, and make ridiculous expensive car seats because there are moms out there that will pay it.  So why not.  I am pretty sure they even sold bullet proof car seats that looked more like that car the Pope rides in for parades.

Anyways, so we went with the Safety1st Alpha Omega Elite.  I mean...look at that name.  It just sounds like a mega legit car seat.  Buybuy Baby had it for the cheapest price we could find at $99.  Plus we had our coupon, so we ended up getting it for around $80.  I am super happy with it and was very impressed with the quality.  I felt it was definitely par with the $200 car seats for sure.  And plus, the brand name is Safety1st so it has to be super safe right?

It has arm rests and cup holders.

Completely switching gears.  I have been on the hunt for a specific kinda drinking cup.  I walked around Wal-Mart for like an hour one day looking for this cup, but no luck.  I love it when people listen to me because I was surprised with it:

This is not a high-ball.  --Just OJ, hold the vodka.
Anyways, so that was about it for errands.  Played a lot of Words with Friends.  I beat both Ian and my older brother in one day, so that was a good day for me.  Yesterday and today, I've been playing my older brother and my younger brother--both of which are kicking my butt today so you win some you loose some.

Sunday was church and football basically.  I can't say I am really invested in this year's "big game".  It would be nice to see some team other than the Patriots win, but I don't think that will be likely this year.  Now, one of these days when the Chiefs actually make it somewhere in the playoff, then I will be excited. Once again, not very likely anytime soon.  In other sports, KU won again (I didn't happen to catch the game) & Syracuse lost.  I would like to see KU move up in standings a bit.  I would be happy with number 3 or 4 overall.  At least higher than Missouri.

And that pretty much sums up the weekend.  Pretty laid back.  I can't believe it went by so fast.  I am ready for January to be over for sure (it's my least favorite month of the year).   So I am pumped that this is the last full week in Jan.  Apparently I get worked up over random and useless things.  Feb. seems like it should bring some great things.  The "big game", some other exciting games for KU.  Hopefully we will see some progress with the house so we can eventually move out of the apartment that I am growing less and less fond of.  I'm hoping that the weather continues to be decent.  Probably file some taxes in February, which is always a blast.  Our car tags are due.  Pretty excited to register in Johnson County and save some money for a change.  And I am hoping that I finally get adjusted to our new schedules.

Today is another game day for the rec team I play on.  Of course it is a 9:30 game, which is late for me.  I kinda get pathetically pumped on game days.  In fact,  I woke up and put on my game attire and have full intentions of wearing it all day, even to work.  It still bugs me that I am rocking a number 9--it not being an actual legal basketball number and all.  Last week, I played HORRIBLE.  In fact, I fouled out and didn't score a single point.  My head was just totally not into it.  So this week, I would really like to redeem myself.

Well, I've rambled all that I needed to ramble today.  Haley is still napping so I guess I could go be productive and fold some laundry or something....

Fruit & Root Connection: Tangled Up

Certainly, I've expressed my aversion to hyper-spiritualized language before. It often feels contrived, lacking authenticity—a facade of piety. Perhaps it's projection. Maybe jealousy. Or it could stem from a sense of disillusionment with the Christian community. But every so often, amidst the noise, a truth resonates deeply. "There is a root and fruit connection between heart and behavior. People and situations do not determine our behavior; these things provide an occasion where our behavior reveals our hearts." - Instruments in the Redeemer's Hands I've been navigating through my anger, confronting myself in the mirror. What does this anger unveil about my own heart? Surely, they aren't as enraged with me. In fact, they probably don't spare me a second thought. If anything, they—as sincerely as they can muster—bemoan my status as an apostate. So pitiful. My fruit is anger. And too often, I'm tempted to point fingers elsewhere as the source of my...

Should I Stay or Should I Go

At the time, deciding to leave felt like the most agonizing part of the whole ordeal. In hindsight, a few years of prayer journals were filled with distressing agony over desiring direction and reconciliation.  So much turmoil and emotional pain all the time. But we were constantly told that was to be expected. Hard was good. Hard truths. And iron sharpening iron. But in reality, We were all enduring death by a thousand paper-cuts. In reality, it was spiritual abuse.  In July of 2022, I sat in a lawn chair in California. It felt like a million miles from home.  We had been traveling the US, and hadn’t been home in weeks. I sat there, eating my bowl of chili.  As wonderful as the trip has been, I started to miss home. In my reflections. I counted my blessings. Home was good. Except one thing, I had a sense of dread when I thought about church. My chest would go tight. And my body felt shaky. I craved Jesus. I craved worship. I craved devotion. Being in God’s creation,...

If Your Happy and You Know it Clap Your Hands....

Alright y'all, I need to post an actual blog post.  It's been awhile.I guess I have said " writers block".  Everytime I've sat down to blog, I've gotten this nasty attitude, like I just want to rant and complain.  I'm not a fan of giving a bad mood more than it deserves or letting people get on my nerves enough that it bleeds in my blog in the most passive-aggressive way possible.  So I won't go there this time.  Focusing on what I'm thankful for has been such a great practice, and has helped me avoid the above.  So here goes nothing.....I'll update a little bit on everthing I suppose.... Finally, life is beginning to slow down.I am so appreciative of the fact that the moving/settling in process is over ( only to do it all again in T minus 5 months....) In theory, there should be a big hole where our next house will be soon. For some reason I doubt that they will break ground this week, but I would be happy if they did...I'm stressed and ...
